Annual & Upcoming DatesEvents At The Market
We have a number of regular annual events at Carterton Farmers’ Market, along with some less frequent ones too. Take a look below to find out more:
Annual Events
Each year there are some events that occur around the same time that are a great draw for stallholders and customers alike. These include:
The Annual Plant Sale
Our largest and best known event, The Annual Plant Sale started from the closure of the Opaki School Plant Sale. Seeing a need to continue such an initiative, the event was born. We have upwards of 45 stalls each year, with plant, trees and shrubs, edibles, tropicals and natives. Fundraising from this event will go to local community groups – one being chosen each year.
Arbor Sale
There’s a clue in the name for this event; the weekend before Arbor Day, we ask our local growers of trees, shrubs, plants and natives to join us in the Square. We encourage the planting of trees across the town, district and Wairarapa region through this event, and support relevant local fundraisers too!
Easter Market
Each year we ask the Easter Bunny to visit Memorial Square. She brings with her a basket full of chocolate eggs and other treats for the kids to enjoy. We have also set up some activities for the children, including egg painting. This is great event for the family!
Christmas Market
On the last market before Christmas, we invite local producers of crafts and other items that make great last minute gifts. These can include wooden platters, kids toy trucks, crafted dolls and lots more.
